Pilot badges and wings are a very difficult collecting field as there are numerous very high quality reproductions in circulation. I have tried to highlight my conviction with !!!??? annotations where !!! stands for certainly genuine and ??? for questionable... There are some badge experts that have written very good essays about these available on the net. RFC pilot wings and Austrian French etc badges have also, for a long time been the fields of much creativity. German and Austrian badges are frequently labeled as 'post war' replacements.... beware. On Ebay guarantees by experts are given and people bid comfortably in active auctions. !!!Be careful. if the bidders id is protected then that is usually to prevent anyone from warning you! Nothing can be proved and you will be stuck with pretty but worthless stuff at great cost.... Trust me I know! ouch
